2018 has been an amazing year for James F Stephen Architects
As we celebrate our 40th year in business we have had a momentous year. Both our Glamis and Stirling offices have been busy on a variety of interesting projects as well as spending time developing the professional skills of our members. We have invested time in training three young people who are about to sit their final professional exam at the end of November. We wish them “good luck” and have every confidence in their achieving their goal – which is to become a fully registered, Chartered Architect. More news on this in January
Our Executive and Resident Architect services on V&A Dundee concluded with the opening of this iconic museum in September. Working with design winning Architect, Kengo Kumo from Tokyo has brought an excitement and challenge and we are most encouraged and grateful for the many expressions of gratitude for our contribution in bringing this project in on time. Another great experience.
Our 40th year is wearing to a close with much publicity. Angus Council introduced us to Gary Robinson Communications and Scott Sigsworth at ICU Smile who created a video snapshot of our practice and hopefully you will see this soon on our re-vamped www.jfsa.co.uk website next month.
Our philanthropic efforts this year included sponsorship of the Maggie’s Penguin Parade and we are now the proud owners of “Punky Penguin” thanks to Rosemary and Fred.
Our family are also extremely excited! We were encouraged by some clients to enter for the 2018 Courier Business Awards. A great night of celebration resulted at the Apex Hotel, Dundee as JFSA was announced as the WINNER of the Angus Family Business Award 2018. Thanks must go to those who helped us along the way.
As we write this November 2018 “blog” we have more news! JFSA scooped TWO Awards and a Commendation at the Dundee Institute of Architects Annual Dinner held in the Invercarse Hotel, Dundee. Another great night celebrating with friends, associates and clients. V&A Dundee won the “Supreme” Award as well as the Award for “Best Commercial / Non Domestic Building”. Also most satisfying was to win a Commendation for our own design for Camphill School in Aberdeen.
All in all a memorable momentous year so far. Thank you to all our clients for their support over the past 40 years offering us the opportunities to expand our impressive local, national and international portfolio.
Professor Fred Stephen is the Founding Partner of the JFSA Practice.
